Aline Star Cemetery


Cherokee – Funeral services for Mrs. Etta Allen, 93, Wichita, Kansas, will be at 1 PM Thursday at the Grapes Funeral Home Chapel in Cherokee. Rev. Roy Nelson will officiate and she will be buried in the Eastern Star Cemetery in Aline.

Born in eastern Kansas in January 1, 1881, she moved to Aline to live with her brother after her parents death in 1898. She married Andrew T. Allen in October 1902 and they established their home in Aline. Mrs. Allen and her husband operated a grocery store in Yewed from 1925 to 1939.

She was a member of the Presbyterian Church and lived in Wichita since her husband's death.

Survivors are five daughters, Miss Ethel Allen, Mrs. Virginia Henderson, and Mrs. John (Viola) Marteney, all of Wichita, Kansas; Mrs. Robert (Dorothy) Sanford, Oklahoma City; and Mrs. Donald (Bertha) Solberg, Cincinnati, Ohio; four sons, Harry, Wichita, Kansas; Bob, Derby, Kansas; Jim, Denver, Colorado; Ike, Los Angeles, California; and eight grandchildren, 17 great – grandchildren, and one great – great – grandchild.
