Ervil Kenneth Thomas was born to James and Sylvia Thomas on August 19, 1923 in Ozark, AR. He went home to be with our Lord on July 7, 2012 in Fort Smith, AR at the age of 88 years, 10 months and 18 days.
He grew up and lived in the Westville area most all of his life, and to friends and family he was known as Eub Thomas. He married Juanita (Choate) Thomas on March 15, 1943. Together they had five children. In the past 10 years, he had made Sallisaw, OK his home.
As a young man, he was a hard working farmer by trade, and was known county wide for growing award winning strawberries. In his spare time he enjoyed bee keeping, spending time with friends and family, and making his grandchildren laugh. He got his greatest enjoyment from fishing. After retirement, he spent countless hours looking for a fishing hole and trying to reel in the big one!
He loved God and accepted Christ as his savior at Wrights Chapel Holiness Church in a revival held by Bro. Earl Brewer in the late 1960’s and was baptized shortly thereafter in Baron Fork Creek.
He is preceded in death by his parents, James and Sylvia Thomas, 6 brothers, and 2 sisters; his wife Juanita Thomas; one son, Gary Thomas; one grandson, Milan Wilkie and three great grandchildren, Kenton Wilkie, Jordan Harris and Checotah Hensley.
He is survived by one brother, Wayne Thomas of Stilwell, OK; one sister, Josephine Coppedge of Ardmore, OK, one son, Charles Thomas and wife Cindy of Grove, OK; three daughters, Linda Walters and husband Darrell of Sallisaw, OK; Glenda Wilkie and husband Danny and Brenda Hensley all of Westville, OK. 17 grandchildren, 40 great grandchildren, and 7 great great grandchildren and a host of friends and relatives also survive him.
He lived life to the fullest and will be greatly missed by all of those who knew and loved him.
Funeral services were held at 2 pm on Wednesday, July 11, 2012 at Roberts & Hart Chapel with Bro. Navil Vaughan and Bro. Jeff Wilcher officiating. Interment followed at Westville City Cemetery.
