Thurman Arthur Smith, son of Claude and Toiley (Hill) Smith was born January 14, 1922 in Altus, Arkansas and departed this life to be with our Lord on October 29, 2010 in West Siloam Springs, Arkansas at the age of 88 years, 9 months and 15 days.
He was a very loving husband, father and grandfather to his family. He worked at H & H Wholesale Grocery for many years. He was a faithful member of Bethany Free Holiness Church while his health permitted.
Thurman was preceded in death by his parents; Claude and Toiley Hill, his wife; Betty Whisenant Smith, grandson; Dewayne Smith, granddaughter; April Wright, brothers; Clyde, Owen, Raymond, Argus and Red Smith, and 2 sister; Galela Elgin and Lorene Heape.
He is survived by a very loving family that includes his children; David Smith of Westville, Ok, Teresa Hicks of Inola, OK, and MelvinSmith of Claremore, Ok, Grandchildren; Jonathan Smith of Westville, Ok, Craig Wright, Ginger Higgins and Cody Wright all of Inola, Ok, Cassidy Velasquez of Tulsa, Ok, seven great grandchildren. 3 sisters; Arline Bartlett of Coal Hill, Ar, Lillie Carter of Spiro, Ok, and Lola Swafford of Dyer, Ar, 2 brothers; Winford Smith and Roy Smith both of Ozark, Ar, several nieces, nephews other relatives and many friends also survive him.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, November 1, 2010 at the Bethany Free Holiness Church, Westville, OK with Bro. Jeff Wilcher officiating. Interment followed in the Westville City Cemetery under the direction of Roberts Funeral Home.
