Services for Jane SHEFFIELD, 59, Westville, were held Thursday, July 2, 1992, in Hart Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ernest ASHCRAFT officiating. Interment was in Westville City Cemetery. She was born January 27, 1933 in Danville, Arkansas, to Jesse William and Bessie Dee HELNER WOODARD and died Monday, June 29, 1992, in St. Francis Hospital.
She and Mitchell D. SHEFFIELD were united in marriage in Ft. Smith, Arkansas, on July 19, 1952.
She graduated from Sallisaw High School and received her bachelor's and master's degrees from Northeastern State University. Her advanced study continued at the University of Oklahoma, Oklahoma City University, Oklahoma State University and the University of Missouri. An elementary teacher with Westville Public School for over 27 years, she was a member of the First Baptist Church, Oklahoma and National Education Associations, National Counsel for Exceptional Children, Westville Yellowjacket Booster Club, past president of Westville Community Improvement Club, Order of the Eastern Star and was Teacher of the Year in Adair County in 1978.
Survivors include: her husband; her mother, Bessie of Oklahoma; one son, Michael of Oklahoma; three grandsons; two granddaughters; and a brother, Donald of Arkansas.
