FUNERAL SERVICES HELD FOR JOHN NUNLEY

Funeral services for John Nunley, age 57, widely known pioneer Westville citizen, were held last Thursday afternoon at the Roberts funeral chapel conducted by Rev. J. C. Morris, local Methodist pastor.
Mr. Nunley died unexpectedly at his home here Wednesday afternoon of a heart attack.
He was born January 6, 1882, just a few miles from this city and spent his entire life in this area.
He is survived by his widow; four daughters, Mrs. Arthur Shinn, Mrs. Harold Judkins, and Mrs. James Wilson, all of Muskogee, and Mrs. Lee Cole, Orange, Calif; a son, Clifford Nunley, California, and two sisters, Mrs. Ada Howard, Fort Smith, Ark., and Mrs. Henry Carter, Muskogee, and four grandchildren.

WELL KNOWN CONTRACTOR OF WESTVILLE IS DEAD WESTVILLE, June 1, 1939

Funeral arrangements had not been announced tonight for John Nunley 57, well known Westville contractor, who died unexpectedly in his home Wednesday afternoon from a heart attack.
Nunley was born only 10 miles east of here Jan. 6, 1882 and had been a resident of this section all his life.

He is survived by his widow, four daughters, Mrs. Lee Cole, Orange, Calif. Mrs. Arthur Shinn, Mrs. Harold Judkins and Mrs. James Wilson, all of Muskogee; one son, Clifford Nunley of California, and two sisters. Mrs. Ava Howard, Fort Smith, and Mrs. Henry Carter, Muskogee, and four grandchildren. Grandchildren are: Kenneth Lee Cole, James Grant Cole, Barbara Ellen Judkins and Roberta Lee Shinn

Mrs. Ellen Nunley, a lifelong resident of Westville, and well known matron in the community, died suddenly Friday, July 9, at her home in the west part of town, of a heart attack. She was 75. Funeral service was conducted Sunday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. from the Roberts Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Raymond Cooley, Eufaula, former pastor of the Westville Methodist church officiating, assisted by Rev. D. Troy Thomas, pastor. Burial was in the Westville cemetery with Marvin Clayton, Regan Ratliff, Luther Simmons, Chester Crittenden, Clyde Rather and Leslie Carrington as pall-bearers.
A quartet, composed of Mrs. George Murray, Mrs. Charles Brooks, Fred Allison and Cletis Odle, with Mrs. Robert Effenlaurger at the piano, sang "Sweet Hour of Prayer," "Never Grow Old," "In The Garden." Those in charge of the flowers were Mrs. Leslie Carrington, Mrs. Harold Moss, Mrs. Ernest Buffington, Mrs. Duke Carlton, Mrs. Woodrow Lanier, and Mrs. Frank Grooms.
Mrs. Nunley was born January 15, 1879 in Westville. She was the daughter of Robert and Martha Jane Williams. She had spent her entire life in this community. Her husband, John Nunley, preceded her in death several years. She was the mother of five children, all who survive her. Mrs. Nunley was an active member of the Westville church and the Women's Society of Christian Service.
Survivors include four daughters. Mrs. Harold Judkins, Mrs. Arthur Shinn of Muskogee, Mrs. Lee Cole of Boynton, and Mrs. James Wilson of Colorado Springs, Colo.; a son, Clifford Nunley, of Santa Ana, Calif.; 11 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; three brothers, Ellis Williams, Fairfax, Bob Williams of Miami, and Fred Williams of Grove.
The large group that attended the funeral service and the beautiful floral offerings were indeed a tribute to this Christian woman who stood for all that was good in life.
