Luther Van Jones, son of Charley and Tressie (Smith) Jones, was born on November 25, 1935 in Westville, Oklahoma and passed from this life on Monday, December 7, 2009 in Fayetteville, Arkansas at the age of 74 years and 12 days.
Luther enjoyed spending time with his family and was a great husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was an auto mechanic and ran his own repair shop for many years. Luther joined Dona Woolard on January 11, 1955 and they were blessed with 54 years of marriage.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Harold Dean and Billy Charles Jones and one great grandson: C.J. Steimel. Those left to cherish his memories are his wife: Dona Gayle Jones of the home in Westville, OK, daughters: Debbie Springwater and husband Tommy of Stilwell, OK, Pam Guinn and husband Leo of Westville, OK, Vicki Young and husband Tim of Westville, OK, sons: Chuck Jones of the home in Westville, OK, Larry Jones and wife Linda of Westville, OK, Jimmy Jones and wife Pam of Westville, OK, 17 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, brothers: Sheridan Jones and wife Jerrie of Stilwell, OK, Bobby Jones and wife Edna of Stilwell, OK, sisters: Oleta Wilson and husband Audrey Dick Wilson of Westville, OK, Ruby Carlton and husband Bobby of Cincinnati, AR, Kathy Chapman and husband Lonnie of Oklahoma City, OK, other family and many friends.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 11, 2009 at Roberts Funeral Chapel with Bro. Audie Vaughan officiating. Interment followed at Westville City Cemetery under the direction of Roberts Funeral Home.
