Vera Lorene Hill, the daughter of James Preston and Lydia Elizabeth (Foster) Jackson, was born May 23, 1917, in Duncan County, Oklahoma. She departed this life August 15, 2011, at her home in Siloam Springs, Arkansas at the age of 94 years, 2 months and 18 days.
On December 22, 1922, she married Lonnie Edward Hill in Lamb County, Texas and to this union was born eight children, J.T., Jack, Ed, Joyce, Don, Reba, Janice and Maurine. Vera enjoyed visiting with friends at the Westville Senior Citizens Center, sewing, crocheting and quilting. She also worked as a cook for several years. Vera was a member of Primitive Baptist Church.
She is preceded in death by her parents, James and Lydia Jackson, her husband, Lonnie Hill, daughter, Joyce Cox, son, Don Hill, six brothers and sisters, grandchildren, Lonnie Cox and Virginia Cox.
She is survived by a loving family which includes, three daughters, Reba Clark, of Siloam Springs, AR, Janice and Mike Lyttle, of Siloam Springs, AR, Maurine and Ray Turner of Westville; three sons, J.T. and Rita Hill, of Canyon Lake, TX, Jack and Beverly Hill, of Lockhart, TX, Ed and Kris Hill, of Calera, Alabama; daughter-in-law, Retha Hill, of Westville, 34 grandchildren, 65 great grandchildren, numerous great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 19, 2011, at Hart Memorial Chapel with Bro. David Parker officiating. Interment will follow at Westville City Cemetery under the direction of Hart Funeral Home of Westville.
