Johnny Dean Balmain, 68, of Eucha, Oklahoma passed away on the 29th of September 2019.


Johnny was born in Sutter Creek, Calif. on the 14th of October 1950 to Olen Vernon Balmain and Clara Edna (London) Balmain. He was a proud 1967 graduate from Watts High School in Watts and continued on to receive a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Education in 1987 from Northeastern State University.
 

Johnny was married to Reta Butler on June 27, 1986 in Fayetteville, Ark.; they were married 33 years.
 

Johnny had several different jobs before beginning his career of a dedicated teacher and coach, he worked for a few years in Lincoln, Nebraska for Sutherland Lumber Company before moving to Alaska where he spent eight years working for Superior Millwork and Spenard Builders. He returned to Oklahoma to complete his teaching degree. He began teaching at both Christie and Westville schools his first three years then was teaching full time at Westville Schools for the remainder of his teaching career. He enjoyed watching his older grandkids play sports, and his younger grandkids were his pride and joy, He was an avid golfer, and he loved fishing and hunting with his brothers.
 

Johnny is survived by his wife Reta Balmain of Eucha, sons, Brian Thurber of Tenkiller, Jason Thurber and wife Jamie of Westville and Jonathan Balmain and wife Whitney of Eucha, 10 grandchildren Dylan, Bryar, Benjamin, Cole, Kasia, and Talon Thurber, Jude, Sophia, Jaxson, and Baker Balmain, four siblings, Ray and wife Shirley of Siloam Springs, Ark., Owen and wife Judy of Sallisaw, Peggy Nickens and husband Jim of Westville, and Jesse and wife Anna of Watts, several nieces and nephews and many other family and friends.
 

Johnny is preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
 

The funeral service was held on the 3rd of October 2019 at Impact Church in Westville. Pastor Jim Beavers of Lightning Ridge officiated.

Burial was at Westville Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were handled by Roberts and Hart Funeral Home in Westville.
