Barbara Jane Atha, daughter of Clyde and Ruth Elizabeth (Bacon) Reed, was born on July 21, 1937 in Cherokee City, Arkansas and departed this life to be with her Lord on Saturday, November 10, 2012 in Westville, Oklahoma at the age of 75 years, 3 months and 19 days.
Barbara earned her degree in education and became an Educator. She will be remembered by all of those whose lives she touched during her career. Barbara married Bobby Atha on September 27, 1956 and they were blessed with a large and loving family. Her love of God, her family and life will live forever in the hearts of family and friends.
Preceding her in death were her parents: Clyde and Ruth Reed, husband: Bobby Atha, daughter: Betty Louisa Atha, sisters: Mabel Pettit, Goldie Reed, brothers: Frank, Clyde Jr., George, Charley, Clarence, Donnie, Grover, Jack and Bob Reed.
Those remaining to keep her memory are her children: Randy Atha and wife Joyce of Westville, OK, Sandra Dixson and husband John of Spring, TX, grandchildren: Myndi Denton and husband Dustin, Jeremiah Atha and wife Jessica, of Westville, Aleisha Hyland and husband Chris of Conroe, TX, Shawn Dixson of Austin, TX, great grandchildren: Noah Atha of Cincinnati, AR, Jacob Atha of Westville, Kylie and Makayla Hyland of Conroe, TX, brother: Albert Reed and wife Margarite of Siloam Springs, AR, Alfred (Shug) Reed of Lincoln, AR, Harvey Reed and wife Beverly of Goodman, MO, sister: Minnie Fielding of Rogers, AR. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were held at 2 pm on Friday, November 16, 2012 at Roberts & Hart Chapel with Bro. Larry Kindle and Dan Collins officiating. Interment followed at Westville City Cemetery.
