Vola Mae Key, to many known as “Granny Key.” Daughter of R.H. Carter and Mirtie Mae Mongold Carter, was born on Janurary 20,1925 in Davidson, Ark. in Crawford County and left this world on July 22, 2016 in Tahlequah, Oklahoma at the age of 91 years, six months, and two days.
She was a homemaker and raised 10 children. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, teaching them about Jesus. She loved going to church, and gospel singings when her health allowed her to.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Claude Allen Key, her parents, R.H. and Mirtie Mae Mongold Carter, two sons Bobby Key, and Billy Key, and three grandchildren, Jennifer Cooper, Stevie Key and Brandon Price, two great-grandchildren, Aubrey Harris, and Racin Brown, and her brothers, and sisters.
She leaves behind her children, Lea Lovejoy and husband Myrl Lovejoy of Evansville, Ark. Lou Cooper and husband Frank of Sallisaw, Danny Key and wife Loretta of Prairie Grove, Ark. Mary Stewart and husband David of Westville, OK. Betty Skinner and husband Leo of Natural Dam, Ark. Jimmy Key of Westville, Jackie Price and husband Carry of Evansville, Ark. and Vicki Harlin and husband Andy of the home. One daughter-in-law, Debbie Key of Lincoln, Ark. and one sister, Mary Ann Keith of Mountainburg, Ark. Also 32 grandchildren, 61 great-grandchildren, and eight great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services held Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at Roberts & Hart Chapel, Westville, with Kelly Whitekiller and Andy Harlin officiating. Interment at Terrell Cemetery, Peavine.
