Paul Welford West was born to Welford and Geneva (Blakemore) West in Stilwell, Oklahoma on August 12, 1958 and left this world to be present with his Mom, Dad and our Lord on August 1, 2018 in Tahlequah, Oklahoma at the age of 59 years, 11 months and 1 day.
Paul was preceded in death by his father and mother; Welford and Geneva West.
He is survived by his brother Jim West, and wife Connie; and his sister Joy Hall, and a host of nephews, nieces, and a multitude of other relatives and friends.
Paul was born with Down Syndrome. He was a special person to everyone he came in contact with. He spent most of his adult years in Tahlequah with an around the clock staff to care for him. He was well loved by his family and his staff. He maintained a good attitude and a ready smile even when his health was bad. He liked to hug everybody, and he liked to tease. He regularly threw pillows, or his stuffed monkey, or whatever, at his staff when they came in the door. Paul was like family to every one of his caregivers. Paul will be sorely missed by his family and friends.
We believe this is what Paul can now express for himself, as he is reunited with his parents and other loved ones in Heaven;
All the
pain and grief is over,
Every
restless tossing passed;
I am now
at peace forever,
Safely
home in Heaven at last.
Graveside services were held Friday, August 3, 2018 in the Stilwell City Cemetery with Bro. Dan Ketcher officiating.
Interment followed under the direction of Roberts/Reed-Culver Funeral Home.
