Jennie Jean Smith, daughter of Bill and Lucy Vera (Jones) Sherley, was born on May 15, 1936 in Rogers County, Oklahoma and went to her heavenly home on April 28, 2018 in Tulsa, Oklahoma at 81 years of age.
She enjoyed working in her yard, growing and caring for her flowers. Jennie liked playing bingo whenever she could. She loved her cats and everyone else’s. When Jennie was younger, she liked to cook and made the best pies and chicken and dumplings. Her family always enjoyed listening to her sing and play guitar while working around the house and strum while she was able.
Jennie worked as a waitress for many years at Gray’s Dairy Queen, Jim Dandy, Starr’s Drive- In and Flint Ridge. She also worked at CNI.
She was preceded in death by her husband: James R. Smith, parents: Bill and Lucy Sherley, sons: Bill Smith, David Jackson, Joey D. Jackson and her brother: Robert Dale Sherley.
Jennie is survived by her children: Gary Jackson Sr. and wife Lovette, Rick Jackson, Joy Catron and husband Joe, all of Stilwell, granddaughters: Angela Jackson Blair of Gentry, Ark., Jordan Smith of Stilwell, grandsons: Gary Jackson Jr. of Siloam Springs, Ark., Chase and Chandler Martin both of Stilwell, great-granddaughters: Cassidy Hinkle, Samantha Blair, great-great- grandson: Oliver Helt all of Gentry, Ark., grandchildren: Kaylee Tanner of Westville, Jerry Allen Burrel of Austell, Ga., Mary Beth Turner of Paulden Co, Ga., Samuel Burrel and wife Amy of Harralsen Co., Ga., Wittel Nunley and wife Amanda of Pikeville, Tenn., Lesia Conrad and husband Shad of Gentry, Ark., Jason Catron and wife Alicia, sister: Judy Butler, brother: Alfred Inman and wife Geneva all of Stilwell, several nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were held Friday, May 4, 2018 at Roberts/Reed-Culver Chapel, Stilwell with Bro. Darrell Lacie officiating.
Interment followed at Stilwell City Cemetery.
