Jessie Pauline Ray
March 1, 1928-August 3, 2007
Jessie Pauline Ray was born on March 1, 1928 in Tahlequah, OK to Zeke and Ruby Newton and passed away early Friday Morning, August 3, 2007 in Oklahoma City, OK.
She was crowned the "Indian Princess" of Bagley High School in Tahlequah in 1947. Polly went to work for AT&T in the late 50's and worked for them for over 35 years. In 1951, Polly met William G. Ray of Stilwell, OK, and after a short courtship they married on July 19, 1952. They were living proof of what being married truly means. They celebrated 54 years of marriage and even until the Lord called them, they were the love of each others lives.
She and Bill were extremely supporative parents to their son Joe with their biggest goal for him to have happiness in his life. She finally got the girl she had alway wanted when Joe and Dorothy Shriver married in 1981. Nothing brought more joy to her life than when she became "Grandma".
Polly was preceded in death by her husband Bill, her parents, and her brother; Buck Newton.
Survivors include her son Joe Ray and his wife Dorothy; grandchildren, Heather, Taylor, and Shannon Ray; and several nieces and nephews, and a host of Friends, and loved ones.
Special thanks go to Donna Dalke and Billie James for their excellent care, love, and support over the last few years.
Funeral services were held on Monday, August 6, 2007 at Smith & Kernke Chapel, Oklahoma City. A second funeral service was held Tuesday, August 7, 2007 at Roberts/Reed-Culver Funeral Home, Stilwell, OK.
Interment will follow in the Stilwell Cemetery.
