Jerry Lynn Ogden, son of Roy Leo and Imogene (Kilgore) Ogden was born September 8, 1939 in Boston, AR. And he departed this life to be with our Lord forever on May 27, 2019 in Midwest City, OK, surrounded by loved ones at the age of 79 years, 8 months and 19 days.
Jerry graduated from Stilwell High School and received his Bachelor’s from Northeastern State University. He also served his country in the Air National Guard for 6 years. He married Rowena Butler on October 22, 1959 and to this union 3 sons were born; David, Kevin and Scott. Jerry always worked hard to provide for his family, often holding down 2 or 3 jobs at a time. He was a teacher for 25 years, coach, dispatcher for Stilwell Police Dept for 22 years, was a rural postal carrier and real estate agent, but truly loved to work and stay busy around the farm tending to his cattle.
Jerry was a member of Victory Southern Baptist Church and served when able. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan, but he also loved OU Sooner football and other sports. Most of all he enjoyed time spent with family especially his grandkids and great-grandkids.
Jerry was preceded indeath by his parents; mother and father in law; Lonnie Sr. and Geraldine Butler, sister-in law; Loretta Butler, brothers in law; Lonnie Butler and Dennis Bennett.
He is survived by a very loving family that includes his wife of over 59 years; Rowena Ogden of the home, 3 sons; David Ogden and wife Sharon all of Stilwell, OK, Kevin Ogden and wife Debbie of Colcord, OK, Scott Ogden and wife Stephanie of Stilwell, OK, 5 grandchildren; Samantha Davis and husband Justin, Clint Ogden and wife Jamie, Heston Ogden, Brianna Ogden and fiance’ Connor Mutzig, Jeri Ogden. 4 great-grandchildren; Dally Davis, Prayrie Davis, Carter Ogden, Raegan Ogden and 1 on the way, siblings; Roy Butch Ogden and wife Suzie of Stilwell, OK, Jack Ogden of Little Axe OK, Valeria Bennett of Stilwell, OK, brother-in-law; Carl Butler, sister-in-law; Phoebe Butler both of Stilwell, OK, several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many, many friends also survive him.
Funeral services were held, Friday, May 31, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. in the Roberts/Reed-Culver Chapel with Bro. Booger Davis and Pastor Steve Mowery officiating.
Interment followed in
the Stilwell City Cemetery under the direction of Roberts/Reed-Culver
Funeral Home.
