A. J. McMurtrey son of Jess Martin and Lillie (Sharp) McMurtrey was born November 17, 1930 in Stilwell, Oklahoma and departed this life to be with our Lord on January 6, 2015 in Fayetteville, Arkansas at the age of 84 years, 1 month and 19 days.
He served his country proudly in the United States Army during Korea. He worked in the construction industry to provide for his family. A.J. enjoyed many things but especially enjoyed time spent with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Jess and Lillie McMurtrey, son; Carl McMurtrey, sisters; Donna Faye Morton and Mary Francis McMurtrey.
He is survived by a very loving family that includes his daughters; Judy LaForce and husband Larry of Brookfield, OH, Jackie Williams of Olathe, KS, Jeanne Foster and husband George of Gardner, KS, Reba Perry of Stilwell, OK, sons; Ricky McMurtrey of Gardner, KS, and Roger McMurtrey of McAlister, OK. 15 Grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, siblings; Herman Ray McMurtrey of Stilwell, OK, Garland McMurtrey and wife Sharon of Westville, OK, L. J. McMurtrey and wife Barbara of Park Hill, Ok, Irene Cornell of Vian, OK, several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends also survive him.
Funeral services at 1 pm on Friday, January 9, 2015 at Roberts Reed-Culver Chapel, Stilwell, OK with Bro. John Blackwell officiating. Interment followed at Stilwell City Cemetery.
