Our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother Edna “Jean” Wilbourn Jones passed into the Lord’s loving arms on September 25th, 2019 in Stilwell, OK. She was five days short of her 95th birthday.
Jean was born on September 30th, 1924 near White Rock, AR to her parents, Henry and Iva Wilbourn. She married James Jones in August 17th 1946. Jean was a longtime resident of the Stilwell area and was a member of the Stilwell Church of Christ.
Jean was a patient and supportive mother who enveloped her entire family with love and compassion. She was active in the church contacting and lifting the spirits of ailing members and spent hours too numerous to count pouring her love into hand-crafting gifts for loved ones.
Throughout her life she worked as a telephone switchboard operator, nurses aid, a cook, providing healthy meals to the elderly in a nursing home, but most importantly, provided innumerable hours baby-sitting grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Jean is survived by Elizabeth (Betty) and Ken Dickman of Ocean Park, WA, Curtis Jones of Midway, AL, Peggy and Charles Ross of Stilwell, Dianne and Robert Patterson of Stilwell, James and Nikki Jones of Anchorage, AK, Carissa and Blaine Schulze of Stilwell, sister-in-law Nancy Wilbourn of Aberdeen, NC, and as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren as stars in the heavens.
She is preceded in death by her husband, James; her sister, Helen Bolin Holland; brothers Bill Wilbourn and Fred Allen Wilbourn; her daughter, Mary Folsom Drewery; grandsons, Zack Nesslage and James Folsom and daughter-in-law, Stephanie Jones.
Funeral services were held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 1, 2019 at Hart Memorial Chapel with Rusty Dawson officiating. Interment followed under the direction of Hart Funeral Home.
