Euphemia Lee (Jones) Griffith passed away unexpectedly on December 27, 2015, at Tahlequah City Hospital with her family by her side. She was 84 years of age.
Euphemia was born November 10, 1931, in the Wauhillau Community, Stilwell, Oklahoma, to James Thomas and Dulsa Gladys (Shipman) Jones.
She graduated from Stilwell High School in 1949, received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Education, Art and Elementary Education from Northeastern State College, Tahlequah, in 1952, and a Master's Degree in Business Education in the summer of 1958 from A&M College (OSU), Stillwater. She taught for 31 years with the majority of those years teaching business education at Stillwater High School.
While working on her bachelor's degree, she met Bobbie Burnett Griffith and they married in October 1952. They later divorced in 1977.
After retiring, she moved from Stillwater to Wauhillau to help care for her parents. She enjoyed working in genealogy, collecting coins and stamps, traveling on bus tours with friends, and was a member of the Oklahoma Home and Community Education Club for Adair County.
Euphemia is survived by two daughters, Debralee McCoy and husband Clayton McCoy of McLoud, and Lynette Griffith of Stillwater; two grandchildren, Jared McCoy and wife Andrea of Edmond, and Kristen McCoy of Yukon; and great-grandchildren, Addison McCoy and Jordan McCoy of Edmond.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services were held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, December 31, 2015 at Hart Memorial Chapel with Matthew Halsted officiating. Interment followed at Stilwell City Cemetery under the direction of Hart Funeral Home of Stilwell.
