Wendell Leroy Fletcher, son of John and Orpha (Spears) Fletcher, was born September 24, 1947 in the Dahlonegah community and departed this life on June 18, 2017 at the age of 69 years, 8 months and 24 days.
Wendell married Janice Marie Cain on June 17, 1967 and their marriage was blessed with one son, Jody. He served his country proudly in the United States Army during Vietnam where he received an Air Medal or his meritorious achievement while participating in aerial flight. When he returned home, he pursued an education and graduated with a Master�s Degree in Education Administration. He spent many years educating and coaching many children in Caney Valley, Puterbaugh Middle School in McAlester and Rocky Mountain School. When his grandchildren Andrew and Maegan were born, he devoted his life to them. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. He was a member of Rocky Mountain Bible Church. He enjoyed landscaping projects and spending time with family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; John and Orpha Fletcher, as well as his brothers Johnny Lee Fletcher and Lonnie Fletcher.
Wendell is survived by a very loving family that includes his wife of 50 years; Janice Fletcher of the home in Stilwell, son; Jody Fletcher and wife Gina of Bunch, grandson Andrew Fletcher and wife Rachel of Norman, granddaughter; Maegan Fletcher and fianc� Matthew Parks of Stilwell, siblings; Janice Olsen and husband Larry of Kansas City, Mo., Ronnie Fletcher and wife Gwen of Stilwell, Don Fletcher and wife Shirley of Guthrie, Roger Fletcher, Neal Fletcher, Barbara Wolfe all of Stilwell. Father-in-law; Andrew Cain, brothers and sisters-in-law; Ronald Cain and wife Teresa, Lanny Cain and wife Youlanda, David Cain and wife Tressia, Andrea Longshore and husband Ricky all of Stilwell, Stephanie Anderson and husband Jeff of Tulsa, several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends also survive him.
Funeral services were held Friday, June 23, 2017 at Roberts/Reed- Culver Chapel, Stilwell, with Jeff Anderson and Brother Rob Matlack officiating. Interment followed at Stilwell City Cemetery, Stilwell.
