Curtis Jennings Coombes, the son of Fred and Mattie Della (Harrison) Coombes, was born August 12, 1923, in the Peavine Community of Adair County, Oklahoma. At the age of 91, he passed from this life on January 27, 2015, at his home in Stilwell, surrounded by loved ones.
Curtis was married to Betty Bell Clinton in June of 1982 in Stilwell. Curtis spent his life raising livestock as a farmer and rancher. He enjoyed going to cattle and antique auctions, fishing, hunting and gardening. He was of the Holiness faith.
Those who preceded him in death include, his parents, Fred and Mattie Coombes, son, Michael Carrol Padgett, siblings, Gladys Myree Coombes, Doil Seivetis Coombes, Herbert Felix Coombes, Robert Richard Coombes, Della Lealo Coombes Thompson, Mary Lizziebeth Coombes Riddle and George Glen Coombes, two grandsons, Adam Clayton Padgett and Charles Curtis Padgett, Jr.
He leaves behind a loving family which includes, his children, Clifton Ray Padgett and wife, Betsy, Margie Ann Swepston and husband, Sherman, Charles Curtis Padgett and wife, Tinny; grandchildren, Lacosta Gail Grigsby and husband, Nick, Pete Swepston and wife, Astra, Amanda Jo Vaught and husband, Tommy, April Stuhmer and husband, Kevin, Stephanie Yvonne Duncan and husband, Jeff, Tinny Marie Synar and husband, Eric, Mary Ellen Smith and husband, Roy, 16 great grandchildren and many other friends and relatives.
Funeral services were held 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 3, 2015, at Hart Memorial Chapel with Bro. Kevin Davis officiating. Interment followed at Stilwell City Cemetery under the care and direction of Hart Funeral
