Carol Sue Carter, daughter of Freeman Percy and Lillie Mae (Walker) Deaton, was born on July 24, 1941 in Bakersfield, California and departed this life on Friday, August 12, 2011 in Tahlequah, Oklahoma at the age of 70 years and 19 days.

She was a homemaker and cherished her roles as a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Carol enjoyed the holidays and family gatherings. She was a very friendly person with a smile for everyone.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents: Freeman Deaton and Lillie Mae Triplett, sisters: Jo Ann Garcia, Denise Sherwood, Von Miller and brother: Kenneth Deaton.

She is survived by her children: Cheryl Gray and Cindy Pinkerton of Tahlequah, OK, and Jimmie Talent of Stilwell, OK, Rhonda Crean and husband Steve of New Castle, DE, step children: Clay Carter of Ft. Smith, AR, Casey Carter of Bunch, OK, brother: Donald Deaton of Benecia, CA, grandchildren: Chris Copeland and Presley Copeland of Tahlequah, Daphne and Darron Crean of New Castle, DE. Many other relatives and friends also survive her.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 pm on Thursady, August 18, 2011 at Roberts/Reed-Culver Chapel with Ronnie Ford officiating. Interment followed at Stilwell City Cemetery.
