Cecil Edgar Caldwell
October 28, 1921-July 31, 2008
Cecil Edgar Caldwell was born October 28, 1921 to Oscar Caldwell and Jeanette (Bowles) Caldwell in Peavine Community.
He departed this life July 31, 2008 at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma at 86 years of age.
Cecil was an avid athlete during his high school years receiving All Conference selection. Upon his graduation from Stilwell High School, he served in the U.S. Army in the 2nd Battalion, 19th Infantry Regiment, 24th Infantry Division during World War II. His tour sent him from Stilwell to San Francisco to Hawaii to Australia to New Guinea to the Philippines. He spent four years in battle in the Philippine Liberation Campaign, receiving the Purple Heart and several other medals and commendations.
On May 26, 1946, Cecil married Carlene Foster in Columbus, Kansas. To this union was born two children; Eddie and Celia Kay. Cecil raised cattle on his ranch in the Peavine Community. He was a member of First Christian Church and VFW.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his son; Eddie Caldwell, one brothr; Thomas Edward Caldwell and son-in-law, Dr. Mike Logan.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 62 years, Carlene Caldwell, of the home, his daughter; Celia Logan, of Sallisaw, OK and many friends and loved ones.
Services were held 10:00 am Monday, August 4, 2008, at Hart Memorial Chapel with Kevin Spurlock and Jack Steele officiating.
Interment followed at Stilwell City Cemetery under the direction of Hart Funeral Home.
