Frank Reed Briggs
August 16, 1925 - January 24, 2010
Frank Reed Briggs, 84, passed away Sunday, January 24, 2010 in Pryor, Oklahoma. He was born August 16, 1925 in Stilwell, Oklahoma to Garve and Ola Briggs.
He grew up on his father’s dairy farm northwest of downtown Stilwell, where he met and married Betty Hankins. They owned and operated the Stilwell Lumber Company and various other businesses.
He relocated to Oklahoma City in 1975, where he was employed by Spanish Cove Retirement Center and became a Real Estate Broker. Frank returned to his hometown of Stilwell in 1985. His final 2 ½ years were spent in the loving care of the staff of Meadowbrook Nursing Center in Chouteau, Oklahoma.
Frank enjoyed traveling (especially road trips), starting new business ventures and spending time with family and friends. He was a lifetime member of the First Christian Church in Stilwell and treasured the true friendships he found in his church family.
Frank was predeceased by his parents, his brothers: Jack Briggs and Burl Max Briggs, and the mother of his children: Betty Briggs Crum.
He is survived by his daughters: Deanna K. Land of Edmond, Oklahoma and Becky J. Rogers and husband Ronnie of Locust Grove, Oklahoma, grandchildren: Tracy Case and husband Rick of Edmond, Oklahoma, Rob Land and wife Traci of Corvallis, Montana, Whitney Scott and husband David of Carthage, Missouri, Sarah Rogers of Locust Grove, Oklahoma, Angie Boston and husband Matt of Welch, Oklahoma, Emily Hood and husband Daniel of Battlefield, Missouri and great grandchildren: Jordan Case, Reagan Land, Emma and Ben Scott, Braden and Gabe Boston, Erin and Ellie Hood.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 26, 2010 at First Christian Church, Stilwell, Oklahoma with Kevin Spurlock and Jack Steele officiating. Interment followed at Stilwell City Cemetery under the direction of Roberts/Reed-Culver Funeral Home.
