William Oscar "Bill" Rutledge, the son of Elijah "Bud" Rutledge and Eveline (Taylor) Rutledge, was born September 27, 1940, in Mayfield, Oklahoma. He passed from this life July 19, 2010, at his home in Stilwell, Oklahoma at the age of 69 years, 9 months and 22 days.

Bill was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving his country proudly. He was very proud of his family continuing his legacy of military service to our country.

On January 18, 1963, he married Katherine Padgett in Stilwell, Oklahoma where they now reside. Their union was blessed with five beautiful daughters, Tammy, Dianne, Karen, Rita and Angela.

Bill was employed by Stilwell Foods and also by Jet Stream Corporation. He loved being outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing and working in the yard. He was a cabinet maker and created hunting and fishing accessories. Bill was of the Baptist faith.

His parents; one brother, Troy Rutledge; and three sisters, Alice Dickey, Essie Jackson and Alma Dickey, all preceded Bill in death. He leaves to cherish his memory a loving family, which includes, his wife, Katherine Rutledge, of the home; five daughters and their husbands, Tammy and Anthony Choate, of Westville, Dianne and Neil Stanley, of Westville, Karen and Leighton Nunn, of Ft. Worth, TX, Rita and Kevin Christie, of Stilwell, Angela and Michael Hughes, of Stilwell; three brothers, Buddy Rutledge, of Westville, Frank Rutledge, of Perkins and Roy Rutledge, of Nowata; two sisters, Dixie Harlin, of Westville and Nellie Rutledge, of Nowata. Twenty-one grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and other family members also survive him.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 26, 2010, at Hart Memorial Chapel in Stilwell with Bro. B.J. Craig officiating. Interment will follow at Spade Mountain Cemetery under the direction of Hart Funeral Home of Stilwell.
