Alma Ruth Knight, daughter of Jerry Clyde Brannon and Ona (Walker) Brannon, was born on June 20, 1921 in Stilwell, Oklahoma and departed this life to be with her Lord on Wednesday, March 9, 2011 in Stilwell, Oklahoma at the age of 89 years, 8 months and 19 days.
Alma married Moultry Knight on March 18, 1939. The Lord blessed them with over 61 years of marriage and a large family. She loved and cherished her family and friends. Alma graduated from Stilwell High School and then proceeded to Northeastern State University, where she graduated with a degree in education. Teaching was her passion and she taught many students during her 20 year tenure at Greasy Schools. Alma was honored to be named the Adair County Teacher of the Year for 1982 – 1983. In her spare time, she enjoyed quilting and sewing for her family and friends. Alma was a valued member of the Spade Mountain Holiness Church. She touched many lives and will be missed by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Jerry and Ona Brannon, husband: Moultry Knight on August 9, 2000, brothers: Bill and Glenn Brannon.
Keeping her memory are her children: Harold Knight and wife Lillian of Bunch, OK, Patsy Goodwin and husband Leon of Stilwell, OK, Barbara Silver and husband Dainus of Canton, GA, Jerry Knight and wife Debbie of Stilwell, Gary Knight and wife LaDonna of Hulbert, OK, grandchildren: Meleah Withers and husband Bruce of Hillsboro, TX, Nikki Starr and husband Alan of Bunch, Michael Goodwin and wife Lela, Randy Adair and wife Carla, Rick Adair, Rod Adair and wife Laura, all of Stilwell, Cary Silver and Elizabeth Silver, Daina Holland and husband Mike, all of Canton, GA, Joe Knight and wife Krysten of Stilwell, Cassy Knight of Edmond, OK, 19 great grandchildren, one great great grandchild. Alma is also survived by many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at Roberts/Reed-Culver Chapel with Carthel Means and Randy Duncan officiating. Interment followed at Spade Mountain Cemetery under the direction of Roberts/Reed-Culver Funeral Home.
