Leroy Canoe, son of Adam and Jennie (Pettit) Canoe, was born on January 20, 1952 in Tahlequah, Oklahoma and departed this life on Thursday, February 15, 2018 in Tahlequah at 66 years of age.

Leroy worked at Greenleaf Nursery for 14years and at Tyson Industries to help support his family through the years. He served his country in the Marines and he attended the Indian Methodist Church in Stilwell for as long as he was able. Leroy enjoyed watching TV with his son, Jay. He liked comedies, wrestling, OU football, OKC Thunder and Nascar (Jeff Gordon was his favorite driver). Leroy liked fishing and hanging out with family and friends. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and loved playing ball with his granddaughter Sugar!


Leroy was preceded in death by his sisters, Margaret Vann, Leona Snell and CarolineLittledeer, brother, Daniel Canoe and stepsisters: Deborah Wilson and Esther Sanders.
 

He is survived by a loving and devoted family that includes his wife Mary Canoe, son Jay Lee Canoe, of the home in Stilwell, stepsons: Gary Cochran and Jimmy Cochran of Stilwell, 11 grandchildren, 1 great-granddaughter, brother John Canoe, sisters Katie Mink, Mary Scott and husband Joe, Jennie Taylor and husband Dexter, all of Stilwell, stepbrothers Sonny Wilson and wife Sally of Gore, Kenneth Wilson and wife Bobbi of Sallisaw, Timothy Carey and wife Shelly of Chewey, stepsisters Rena Glenn and husband David of Stilwell and Pamela Wilson of Tahlequah. A host of other relatives and friends also survive him.
 

Funeral services were held Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at Roberts/Reed-Culver Chapel, Stilwell, with Bro. Gary Leach officiating.

Interment followed at South Bunch Cemetery, Bunch.
