Services for Betty Jean (Webster) Bird, 68, of Chewey, Oklahoma, were held at 2:00 p.m. on November 16, 2009 at Souls Harbor Church in Chewey with Rev. Kevin Webster, her nephew, officiating. Burial followed in Sands Cemetery in Chewey under the direction of Roberts Funeral Home of Westville, OK.

Mrs. Bird was born on October 5th, 1941 in Tahlequah, OK to Sam and Eula Webster. She died Wednesday, November 11, 2009 in Muskogee, OK.

Described by her family as a loving wife, mother and grandmother, Mrs. Bird attended schools in and around Tahlequah. She enjoyed cooking, singing gospel music and spending time with her family and friends. She was employed by Simmons Foods in Siloam Springs, AR for 17 years before her illness forced her to retire. She married J.B. Bird on October 21, 1959.

Mrs. Bird is survived by her husband, J.B., of the home, three sons: Roger Bird of Chewey, OK, Rodney Bird and wife Dana of Stilwell, OK and Ronald Bird of Locust Grove, OK. She is also survived by three daughters: Deidra Bird of Twin Oaks, OK, Patty Bird of Chewey, OK and Pam and husband Joe Tarin of Chewey, OK, 16 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. She is also survived by two brothers: Sam "Sonny" Webster and wife Gail of Watts and J.D. Webster of Tahlequah, two sisters: Patsy Turtle of Watts, OK, and Bertie Gower and husband Jim of Keys, OK and a host of nieces, nephews, friends and relatives.

Mrs. Bird was preceded in death by her parents: Sam and Eula Webster and a brother: Art Webster.

Pallbearers were: Timmy Webster, Marvin Webster, Scott Webster, Jimmy Darrel Gower, Colby Bird and James Ray Turtle.
