Shawn Taylor Watie, son of Charles Watie and Brenda J. Braden, was born on July 1, 1990 in Stilwell, Oklahoma and was taken from us too soon on Thursday, March 14, 2019 in Sallisaw, Oklahoma at the age of 27 years, 8 months and 13 days.
He moved to Keota with his family in 2002 and graduated from Keota High School in 2008. Shawn built pole barns with James McClure and Bedford Neale, starting at the age of 15 and up until the time of his passing. He enjoyed playing video games, watching movies, spending time with his family and he enjoyed cook outs, too. Shawn loved playing with his children, nieces and nephews outside. He was interested in, enjoyed reading about and watching anything related to UFOs and extraterrestrials. He was a huge Batman fan for the biggest part of his adult life. His fascination with watching scary movies started as a young boy and continued on into his adult years. At the age of 13, he started working for Bobby Parker raising and taking care of Greyhounds.Shawn was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother: Norma Drury and brother: Shane “Bam-Bam” Watie. He is the grandson of Gene Philpott.
Shawn leaves a loving and devoted family that includes his wife: Misty Watie of the home, children: Anastasia Heydorn and William Heydorn, of the home, father: Charles Watie and wife Sherry of Cowlington, grandmother: Florance Watie Chuculate, mother: Brenda and husband Steve Workman of Stilwell, siblings: David Hopkins and wife Amanda of Christie, Candice Neale and husband Jerod of Stilwell, Lavel Watie and husband Tyler Qualls of Sallisaw, Nicole Nixon and husband Daniel of Cowlington, Ashley Gower and husband Aaron of Keys, Heather Nowlin and husband Cadon of McAlester, Tosha Sanders of Stilwell, step-brothers: Zack, Darrick and James Walker, Mark Barber. Numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive him. He loved all nieces and nephews. He spent a lot of time with Kira, Kaydence, Kaitlin, Kobe, Mia and Trinity Watie, Summer Smith.
Interment followed under the direction of
Roberts/Reed-Culver Funeral Home ~ Stilwell.
