Submitted by: Wanda ElliottSam Shell, son of Jack and Eliza (Springwater) Shell was born June 6, 1924 in Adair County, Okla. and departed this life on August 9, 2003 in Stilwell at the age of 79 years, 2 months and 3 days.
He was a WW II Army Veteran, he was also a railroad worker for many years, and he was a long time member of Salem Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Stealer Shell, and two grandchildren.
He is survived by six daughters: Vina Pritchett and husband Rufus, Peggy Ross and husband Jim, Dorothy Shell, Erma Shell and Norma Shell, all of Stilwell, and Laura Rust and husband Gary of Rose, Okla.; two sons: Lucas Shell and wife Kathy, and Michael Shell, all of Stilwell; one sister, Lucy Sawney of Stilwell; 27 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends also survive him.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 13, 2003 at 1:00 p.m. in the Salem Baptist Church with Bro. Carney Duncan and Bro. Lawrence Eagle officiating.
Interment will follow in the Salem Cemetery under the direction of Roberts/Reed-Culver Funeral Home.
