Winfred “Rog” Sawney was born on January 24, 1960, in Tahlequah, Oklahoma to Franklin Sawney and Nancy Littledeer Sawney and departed this life on January 28, 2012, at the age of 52 years and four days.
Rog enjoyed the outdoors, he also enjoyed hunting when he was healthier. He loved spending time with family and friends, going to church and listening to gospel music. He gave his life to the Lord on April 7, 2011 and was a member of Oak Ridge Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Franklin and Nancy Sawney, paternal grandparents, Samuel and Lucy Downing Sawney, maternal grandparents, White Littledeer and Annie Jones Littledeer; three infant brothers and one infant sister, Loretta and one nephew, Wyatt Sawney.
Survivors include, four brothers, Franklin Sawney and wife, Joann, Ernest Sawney and wife, Ashley, J.D. Sawney and wife, Vanessa, Daryle Sawney and wife, Paula; two sisters, Lillie Sawney and husband, Steve, and Lula Sawney, all of Stilwell, OK. He is also survived by 22 nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, February 2, 2012, at Salem Baptist Church with Bro. Steve Campbell officiating.Interment will follow at Salem Cemetery under the directions of Hart Funeral Home of Stilwell.
