Rickie Gene Sawney of Mesquite, Texas, died April 25, 2012 at his home. He was 61 years old.

A member of the Cherokee Nation, Rickie was born in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, to John Henry and Pauline Imagene Long Sawney. He loved riding his Harley and especially enjoyed the Toys for Tots ride benefitting Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children.

If so inclined, the family suggests Memorial Contributions in Rickie’s name be made to Texas Scottish Rite Hosptial for Children, 2222 Welborn Street, Dallas, TX 75219, or online at www.tsrhc.org.

He is survived by his wife, Denise Sawney of Mesquite; sons, Rickie and Christopher Sawney of Stillwell, OK, and David Haney of Dallas, TX; daughters, Brandee Sawney of Stillwell, OK, Christi Frazier of Tyler, TX, Misti Frazier of Mesquite, and Michelle Haney of Dallas, TX; brothers, Bill Sawney of Huntsville, Arkansas, and Scott Sawney of Stillwell, OK; sisters, Frankie Bartlett of Huntsville, AR, Martha Hendrix of Stillwell, OK, Brenda Galbavy of Lewisville, TX, and Tammie Prince of Stillwell, OK; 22 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren.
