Melvin Joe Sawney was born April 6, 1982, in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, to Lula Mae Sawney. He departed this life December 9, 2014, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the age of 32, with his loved ones by his side.

Melvin lived his life never being able to speak but you could feel his love that he had for his family. He loved listening to gospel music and it was played for him every day. Melvin had a one-of-a-kind laugh that will never be forgotten. Melvin will be missed by many friends and loved ones.

Those who preceded him in death include, his mother, Lula Mae Sawney, his maternal grandparents, Franklin and Nancy Sawney, one uncle, Winfred Sawney and one cousin, Wyatt Sawney.

Melvin is survived by his sister, Cassandra Whitebuffalo and husband, Dillon, nieces, Avah Grace and Kyla Jayce Whitebuffalo, all of the home in Stilwell, OK, four uncles, Franklin Sawney, Jr. and wife, Joann, Ernest Sawney and wife, Ashley, J.D. Sawney and wife, Vanessa, Daryle Sawney and wife, Paula, one aunt, Lillie Sawney and husband, Steve Clinton, all of Stilwell, OK. He is also survived by many cousins, family and friends.
