Lula Mae Sawney, the daughter of Franklin D. and Nancy (Littledeer) Sawney, was born October 29, 1958, in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. Surrounded by her loved ones, she departed this life November 4, 2013, at her home in Stilwell, at the age of 55.
Lula was a lifelong resident of Stilwell and grew up in the Bell Community. She attended Bell Grade School and Stilwell High School and was a member of Salem Baptist Church. She enjoyed her role as a homemaker, mother and grandmother and was considered by everyone as an excellent cook. She was an inspiration to her children and grandchildren and was loved greatly by all who knew her. She will be greatly missed.
Lula’s parents, Franklin and Nancy Sawney, brother, Winfred Sawney, an infant sister, Loretta Lynn Sawney and three infant brothers all preceded her in death.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory a loving family which includes, her daughter, Casandra Whitebuffalo and husband, Dillon, of Stilwell; son, Melvin Sawney, of the home; brothers, Franklin D. Sawney, Jr., Ernest Sawney, J.D. Sawney and wife, Vanessa, Daryle Sawney and wife, Paula, all of Stilwell; sister, Lillie Sawney and husband, Steve, of Stilwell and two granddaughters, Avah Grace Whitebuffalo and Kyla Jayce Whitebuffalo.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 8, 2013, at Salem Baptist Church with Bro. Steve Campbell officiating.Interment will follow at Salem Cemetery under the direction of Hart Funeral Home of Stilwell.
