Leona Mae Morton passed from this life on Thursday, October 20, 2011in Stilwell, Oklahoma at the age of 79 years. She was born on July 6, 1932 in Stilwell to Mike and Lucy Skitt Sawney.
Leona was a long time homemaker. She loved being with her children and grandchildren. She especially liked spending time with her beloved granddaughter, Ashley. Some of her hobbies included gardening, fishing, and craftwork. Each day she would take time to read a chapter in her Bible. She was a member of Belfonte Baptist Church. On Monday nights you would find here watching WWE Raw.
Leona was always the happiest when she was surrounded by her family.
Leona was preceded in death by her husband: Joe Morton her parents: Mike and Lucky Skitt Sawney brothers: Alex, Richard, Rider, Pete Sawney, and Ike Bird sisters: Emma Frogg, Martha Wilden, Lillie Tabor, and Lillie Grimmett.
Survivors include her son: John Chuculate and wife Karen of Stilwell, her daughter: Kathy Jo Morton of Stilwell stepson: Wadie Morton and wife Joean of Ft. Gibson four grandchildren: Jamie Beaver, Ashley Chuculate, Brent Chuculate, and Mundy Seabolt six great grandchildren: Analisa Stopp, Edith Stopp, Nicholas Chuculate, Aubrey Beaver, Austin Seabolt, and Miranda Seabolt. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, October 25, 2011 at Salem Baptist Church with Bro. Chuck Glass officiating. Interment followed at Salem Cemetery under the direction of RobertsReedCulver Funeral Home.
