Irene Kester, the daughter of Lewis Quinton and Mary (Glass) Quinton, was born July 8, 1918, in Stilwell, Oklahoma. She passed away February 6, 2011, at Stilwell Memorial Hospital at the age of 92 years, 6 months and 28 days.
Irene was a lifelong resident of Stilwell where she met and married her husband, Floyd Kester. Irene was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She enjoyed quilting, cooking and was an avid gardener. She was a member of Copic Missionary Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School to the junior age children throughout her life.
Those preceding her in death include, her parents, Lewis and Mary Quinton, her husband, Floyd Kester, five brothers, one sister and two half brothers.
Her surviving family includes, three sons, Gene Kester and wife, Lori, of Kansas City, MO, Juke Kester and wife, Doris, of Stilwell, Glen Kester and wife, Shelia, of Lamar, MO; two daughters, Joyce Biehl and husband, David, of Lakewood, OH and Ozetta Maggard, of El Centro, CA; her chosen children, Sam Ross and wife, Ada, of Muldrow and Arethia Stann, of Stilwell; two half sisters, Mariah Gonzales and Que Quinton, of Stilwell, 11 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Graveside services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 11, 2011, at Salem Cemetery with Bro. Herman Jones officiating. Burial is under the direction of Hart Funeral Home of Stilwell.
