Tom Flynn Sr., known to many as “Dooley”, was the son of Fisher Abbott and Lula Flynn and was born on January 2, 1930 in Stilwell, Oklahoma. He passed from this life on Sunday, April 15, 2018 in Stilwell at 88 years of age.
He was a lifelong resident of the Stilwell area. Tom was a member of Salem Baptist Church, where he attended faithfully until he was no longer able to attend due to his declining health.
Tom married Lizzie Daughtery in the summer of 1952 and they raised seven children during their long marriage.
He was an avid outdoorsman. Tom enjoyed cutting wood, setting posts, building fences and picking cotton in season. He also enjoyed spending his life with his family; telling stories and sharing family history. Tom was blessed with a long healthy life and remained physically active until his last three years. He will be missed by his loving family and will remain in their hearts forever.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Fisher Abbott and Lula Flynn, his wife: Lizzie Flynn, two sons: Donald Flynn and Larry Flynn, two brothers: Oscar Flynn and Sambo Flynn, a great grandson: Wyatt Duncan and a great-granddaughter: Melana England.
Tom is survived by his children: Billy Flynn, Tom Flynn Jr., Roger Flynn, Patsy Abbott, all of Stilwell, Gary Flynn and wife Neomi of Sallisaw, 24 grandchildren, 57 great-grandchildren, 9 great-great-grandchildren, siblings: George Flynn, Dennis Flynn, Lydia Flynn, Bessie Bunch and husband Joe Harvey, Eliza Linville, all of Stilwell. He also leaves behind many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held on Friday, April 20, 2018 at Roberts/Reed- Culver Chapel, Stilwell, with Bro. Gary Flynn officiating.
Interment followed
at Salem Cemetery, Stilwell
