Katherine Gerrie Denton, daughter of Leonard and Margaret (Nakedhead) Kirk, was born on July 17, 1953 in Tahlequah, Oklahoma and passed from this life on Thursday, April 19, 2012 in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 58 years, 9 months and 2 days.
Gerrie had a Masters Degree in Education and was a teacher for most of her life. She enjoyed being a mother, grandmother, sister and teacher. Her family was deeply important to her and she cherished every moment spent with them. Many will remember Gerrie as a warm, giving person and are better people for knowing her.
She was preceded her in death by her parents: Leonard and Margaret Nakedhead, sisters: Sue Sturgeon, Gloria Ann Whitten and several aunts and uncles.
Gerrie is survived by her son: Joshua Denton and wife Beth, grandson: Xander Denton, all of Hulbert, OK, sister: Harlene Green of Stilwell, OK, a special aunt and uncle: Buster and Florence Kirk. She is also survived by several cousins, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were held at 2 pm on Monday, April 23, 2012 at Roberts/Reed-Culver Chapel with Kenneth Nakedhead officiating.
 
Interment followed at Salem Cemetery.
