Charlie R. Cochran, son of Roger and Nancy (Sawney) Cochran was born on July 24, 1930 in Stilwell, OK and departed this life on March 8, 2013 at Stilwell Memorial Hospital at the age of 82 years, 8 months and 8 days.
Charlie was retired from the Cherokee Nation, was a gardener, made axe and hammer handles, worked on lawn mowers and chainsaws. While his health permitted he loved going to church, attending gospel singings and spending time with his family especially his grandchildren. He was a member of Salem Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife; Georgia Cochran, 2 sisters; Joann Smith and Sally Terrapin and brother; Tom Cochran.
Charlie is survived by a very loving family that includes his son; Paul Cochran and wife Marilyn, 3 daughters; Marilyn Sawney and husband Harry, Julia Sevenstar and husband Melvin, and Sarah Cochran, 1 sister; Lizzie Teehee, 2 brothers; Andy and J.D. Cochran, 9 grandchildren; Shannon and Harry Sawney Jr., Shayla Catcher and husband Eric, Kayla, Melvin Jr., and Malachi Sevenstar, Daniel Cochran and wife Sophie, Roger Cochran and wife Chasity, Brandon Cochran and companion Kendall Ross. 5 great grandchildren; Anayah Cochran, Jaidan, Sasha, Jada and Jaylee Sawney, a host of nieces, nephews, other realtives and mnay friends also survive him. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Funeral services were held, Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the Salem Baptist Church with Bro. George Polecat and Bro. Joe Grayson officiating.
Interment followed in the Salem Cemetery under the direction of Roberts/Reed-Culver Funeral Home.
