Cleburn "Clyde" Young
March 16, 1936 - October 8, 2009
Clyde Young, son of Oscar and Ivy Young, was born March 16, 1936, in Proctor, Oklahoma and went to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 8, 2009, in Stilwell, Oklahoma at the age of 73. He was the youngest of 9 children.
Clyde graduated high school from Westville, Oklahoma. He served his country 2 years in the Army stationed in Germany.
Clyde married the love of his life, Betty Gillum in 1969, sharing 40 wonderful years together.
Clyde worked 30 years for Ozark Electric and retired in 1993. He was a longtime member of Lighthouse Church of Stilwell. He loved to play the guitar and mandolin in church. He attended church faithfully until he was no longer able.
Clyde loved the outdoors where he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also loved spending time with family and most of all he loved the Lord.
Clyde was an exceptional husband, father and grandfather and never met a stranger. He kept his family entertained with his great sense of humor. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him.
Clyde was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Ivy Young, siblings, Indiana Ferguson, George Young, Gracie Young, Zelta Johnson, Bonnie Sanders, Loyce Young, Grover Young and Sybil Gillum, one daughter, Loretta Claybrook and one grandson, Phillip Claybrook.
Clyde is survived by his wife, Betty Young, of the home; three sons, Clyde Young, of Tahlequah, OK, Arthur Young and wife, Linda, of Stilwell, Clayton Young and wife, Donna, of Stilwell; two daughters, Charlene Garner and husband, Allen, of Colcord, OK and Lena Briggs, of Tahlequah, OK, 15 grandchildren, Allen Caissie, of Houston, TX, Ronald Thompson, of Colcord, OK, Dale Briggs, of Tahlequah, OK, Joshua Claybrook, of Waldorf, MD, Matthew Claybrook, of Edmond, OK, Justin Young, of Alma, AR, Tyler Raines, of Stilwell, Beth Caissie, of Tulsa, OK, Jessica Bond and husband, Tom, of McPherson, KS, Amanda Swofford, of Colcord, OK, Rachel Briggs, of Stilwell, Sarah Farar and husband, Brent, of Park Hill, OK, Melanie Sunday, of Eldon, OK and Haley Raines, of Stilwell.
Services were held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 13, 2009, at Hart Memorial Chapel with Bro. Aaron Barton and Bro. John Killer officiating. Interment followed at Proctor-Sanders Cemetery under the direction of Hart Funeral Home of Stilwell.
