Walter James Kaiser
December 10, 1946 - August 18, 2009
Walter James Kaiser, Jr., son of Walter Kaiser, Sr. and Jessie Beatrice (Scott) Kaiser, was born December 10, 1946 in Oakland, California and passed from this life on Tuesday, August 18, 2009 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma at the age of 62 years, 8 months and 8 days.
Walter graduated from Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, Oklahoma with a Bachelors degree in Education. He was a teacher and artist. While a resident of Thoreau, New Mexico, he taught Senior High School Math full time on the Navajo Reservation. Walter was known by the Cherokee name of “Ooquhunt”. Ooquhunt was an award winning potter and painted with water colors, acrylics, and oils.
Walter was preceded in death by his parents: Walter and Jessie Kaiser and his sister: Jessie Elaine Kaiser.
Walter is survived by a loving family that includes his daughter: Stephanie Garrison and husband Justin of Edmond, OK, sister: Lenora Knapp and husband Bob of Tulsa, OK, and his unborn grandchild: Evan James Garrison of Edmond, OK, several nieces, nephews and many friends.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, August 24, 2009 in the Proctor Sanders Cemetery, Proctor ,OK with Bro. Garland Thomas of New Life Worship Center of Tahlequah, OK officiating. Interment to follow under the direction of Roberts Funeral Home, Westville, OK.
