Ellen Jean Garr was born August 5th, 1951 in DeRidder, Louisiana to Luther Eugene Harlin and Dixie Mae (Rutledge) Harlin. Ellen passed from this life to her heavenly home on September 4th, 2019 at Northwest Medical Center in Springdale, Arkansas.

Ellen was known as “Nanny” to many and a prayer warrior to most. She was a member of the Landmark Missionary Baptist Church in Westville, OK for 45 years and enjoyed attending church at the Christian Worship Center in Stilwell, OK.

She loved spending time with her kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids. She also enjoyed listening to gospel music and spreading the unconditional love of Jesus Christ to all who crossed her path.
 

She was a Registered Nurse and Nursing Home Administrator for nearly 50 years at both Westville and Stilwell Nursing Homes. One of her greatest pleasures was providing care to others, which led to being appointed by the Governor of Oklahoma to serve on the State Board of Pain Management and Regulation.
 

Ellen was a member of the Oklahoma Eastern Star and was number #449.


She was proceeded in death by her father, Luther Eugene Harlin, and brother, Jerry Harlin.


Ellen was married to Paul David Garr on April 19th, 1968 and became a loving and giving mother to 4 children including Laura Smith & Husband Brian of Rogers, AR, Davinnia Chopper & Husband John of Westville, OK, Paul “Bub” Garr and Wife Jessica of Westville, OK, and Maranda Foster & Husband Todd of Watts, OK. She is also survived by her mother, Dixie Harlin of Westville, OK, and her 6 siblings including Judy Poteet & Husband Gary of Stilwell, OK, Patsy Oliver & Husband Dwight of Westville, OK, Evelyn Holtzkamper & Husband Frank of Grove, OK, Kayla Williams & Husband Rick of Westville, OK, David Harlin & Wife Sheri of Gravette, AR, and Billy Harlin & Wife Mary of Van Buren, AR. In addition, she is survived by 14 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. 

Ellen was able to touch the lives of many while here on Earth and will continue to do so even in her absence. She will always be loved and deeply missed.
 

Funeral services were held at 1 pm on Monday, September 9, 2019 at Roberts & Hart Chapel, Westville, OK with Marty Jones officiating.

Interment followed at Proctor - Sanders Cemetery, Proctor, OK
