William Emmons Burnett
June 1, 1919 - October 6, 2009
William Emmons Burnett, son of John Maldon and Cynthia Lillie (Steen) Burnett, was born on June 1, 1919 in Stilwell, Oklahoma and passed from this life on Tuesday, October 6, 2009 in Fayetteville, Arkansas at the age of 90 years, 4 months and 5 days.
Emmons was a lifetime resident of Stilwell. He worked for the City of Stilwell as a Heavy Equipment Operator for many years. Emmons was a member of Sanders Baptist Church. He cherished the time spent with family and friends. He was an avid outdoorsman and liked hunting and fishing.
Emmons was preceded in death by his parents, wife: Faye Burnett, sisters: Lorene Blackburn, Jewel Black, Mildred Scott, Allene Burnett, brothers: Clyde Burnett and Glen Burnett.
He is survived by his children: Dottie Burnett of Stilwell, OK, Hazel Capps of Lincoln, AR, Ralph Burnett and wife Sharon of Tahlequah, OK, grandchildren: Lisa Bolinger of Lincoln, AR, Cindy Hall and husband Bobby of Lincoln, AR, Shawna Stanley and husband Drew of Rose, OK, Misty Burnett of Tahlequah, OK, Lindsay Burnett of Tahlequah, OK, great grandchildren: Alex Burnett, Brandon Bolinger, Kaley Stanley, Conner Stanley, brothers: James Floyd Burnett and wife Geneva of Westville, OK, Johnny Burnett and wife Carolyn of Broken Arrow, OK, Raymond Burnett and wife Belinda of Tahlequah, OK, several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 9, 2009 in Roberts/Reed-Culver Funeral Chapel with Rev. Audie Vaughan officiating. Interment followed at Proctor Cemetery under the direction of Roberts/Reed-Culver Funeral Home.
