Emma Lou (Daugherty) Eagle

Emma Lou (Daugherty) Eagle, the daughter of Snow and Winna Mae (Soap) Daugherty, was born April 14, 1941 in Adair County, Oklahoma and passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, March 19, 2020.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Eagle; son, Mike Eagle; granddaughter, Michal Eagle; brothers, Curtis Ray Daugherty, Martin Daugherty, Jerry “Boss” Daugherty; and sister, Lizzie Flynn.

She attended Sequoyah Vocational School in Tahlequah, Oklahoma in the late 1950’s, graduating in 1961. Emma married the love of her life, Lawrence Eagle on July 17, 1963 in Tahlequah and to this union four children were born. She worked for many years at Cherokee Nation Industries, later spending her days as a homemaker. She loved sewing, canning, being outdoors and most of all spending time with her family.

Emma had a strong love for her Lord. She was a member of Salem Baptist Church, until Lawrence retired as Pastor. After, she became a member of Chuculate Baptist Church.


Left to cherish her memory are, one son, Steve Eagle and wife Tami of Stilwell, Oklahoma; two daughters, Pam Turtle and husband Mike of Tahlequah, Oklahoma and Tresa Eagle-Miller and husband Jerrid of Stilwell; one daughter-in-law, Erica Eagle also of Stilwell; grandchildren, Snow Eagle, Elan Eagle, Mikelynn Eagle, Marla Jo Eagle, Hanna Eagle, Randi Teehee and husband Clayton, Dalton Wallis, Shane Eads, Shaye Coombes and husband JJ, Mycah Simmons and husband Aubrey, and Tristan Crittenden and wife Rachael, Scott Eagle, Bradley Eagle and wife Bea; 21 great-grandchildren; one brother, Johnny “Dewey” Daugherty and wife Christine of Stilwell; three sisters, Neoma Cochran, Louann Eagle and husband Stoney and Doris Canoe and husband Richard all of Stilwell. A host of other relatives and many friends also survive her. She will be missed by all who knew her.

A viewing will be held Monday, March 23, 2020 from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Salem Baptist Church in Stilwell.

A Funeral Service will be held at 1 p.m., Tuesday, March 24, in the Salem Baptist Church with Bro. Donny Sanders, Bro. Gary Flynn and Bro. Max Ford officiating.

Interment will follow at the Preacher Lane Cemetery in Stilwell.
