Lucy Swake
February 28, 1919-May 30, 2009

Lucy (Glass) Swake was born on February 28, 1919 in Adair County to John T. and Emma (Livers) Glass. She departed this life to be with her Lord on May 30, 2009 at the age of 90 years, 3 months and 2 days.
Lucy was married to Albert Swake and to this union was born 9 children. Lucy was a deaconess and Sunday School treasurer at Oak Ridge Baptist Church for many years. When she could no longer attend, she became a member of Jubilee Baptist Church and attended faithfully while her health permitted. She was a very loving person to everyone she came in contact with. Lucy always said, “Smiles last for only seconds but memories last a lifetime”.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Albert, two sons, Robert Swake and Albert Swake, Jr., one daughter, Ella Mae Lovejoy, two infants, Lucille Swake and J.W. Swake, two sisters, Daisy (Glass) Pinky and Betty (Glass) Pritchett, four brothers, George Glass, Lynch Glass, Charley Daugherty and Richard Glass, and two foster children, Redbird Glass and Peggy Lutz.
Her surviving family includes, three sons, John T. Swake and wife, Linda, of Westville, James “Buck” Swake and wife, Kathryn, of Stilwell and Perry Don Swake and wife, Paula, of Watts; three daughters, Emma and Joe Harrington, of Westville, Coleta and C.J. Fatheree, of Stilwell, Rogene and David Arnold, of Tahlequah; two foster children, Ella Mae Daugherty, of Stilwell and Jimmy Glass, of Fayetteville, AR, two sisters, Ada (Glass) Watie and Leona (Glass) Bird, of Stilwell, 36 grandchildren, 53 great grandchildren, 6 great-great grandchildren. Lucy leaves to mourn her passing a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 2, 2009, at Hart Memorial Chapel with Bro. Jerry Nofire and Bro. Sam Nakedhead officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery under the direction of Hart Funeral Home of Stilwell.
