Albert Clinton Rowan, age 87, was born to George Albert Rowan and Mable M. Etier of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on September 10th, 1926. He departed this life, surrounded by family, on Tuesday, February 11th, 2014 in Claremore, Oklahoma.
Clint was born into a cotton farm family amid tough times in the 20’s and was raised to work hard. He left school after his fifth grade year to help the family make a living. He worked with his family until his early 20’s at which time he began a career driving a truck across the highways of this great country hauling oil and moving families.
He retired in 1990 and bought a 20 acre farm in Chewey, Oklahoma to begin his final retirement. With his wife, Geraldine, in hand, he began the work he loved as a kid, raising cattle and working the pastures of Chewey. He made many friends at his new home. They all had the same work ethic and desire to work the land. He often told his family he enjoyed the relationships with those folks. He would stop any job to help them, as they would for him. He worked that land in Chewey until he finally sold out last year and moved them to Claremore, leaving behind many years of hard work and friendships.
He loved his family, but his love for Geri was ever more. He will be missed by many, but the love will last with us all.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Geraldine Louise Rowan of the home: His sons, Gary Rowan of Haskell, Oklahoma; Tony Rowan, wife Sandra of Dallas, Texas; Victor Austin, wife Jennifer of Aurora, Colorado; Leonard Rowan, wife Charlene of Owasso, Oklahoma; Glenn Rowan and fiancé Mallori Green of Claremore, Oklahoma; and daughter Sandy Williams, husband Robbie of Inola, Oklahoma along with numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George Albert and Mable M. Rowan of Oklahoma City, sons, Albert Kyle Rowan of Ft. Gibson, Oklahoma, David James Rowan of Muskogee, Oklahoma and daughter Evelyn Marie Rider of Haskell, Oklahoma.
Memorial services at 2 pm on Saturday, February 15, 2014 at New Hope Cemetery, Westville, Oklahoma with Rev. Jim Beavers officiating. Inurnment in New Hope Cemetery, Westville, OK.
