Wanda Marie McConnell, daughter of Darb “CA” and Della Fults, was born on November 19, 1936 in Boxley, Arkansas and departed this life on Saturday April 13, 2019 in Prairie Grove, Arkansas at 82 years of age.

Wanda made her career in the poultry industry at Town & Country, Plus Poultry and Simmons Foods. After 40-plus years of service, she retired as a Quality Assurance Supervisor. After her retirement she also enjoyed working in the cafeteria at Westville Public Schools, but she was most happy spending time on the family farm.

Wanda also loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She liked traveling with her family, seeing the sights and enjoying new experiences. Wanda especially enjoyed camping on the lake and fishing with her family.

She had many hobbies and interests, such as vegetable and flower gardening, reading (the National Enquirer and TV Guide were two of her favorites), yard work, mowing and everything about Christmas.

Wanda loved good food. Pizza was her all time favorite. She was also a great baker and an excellent candy maker. “Lady Jacket Granny” was a name that she wore proudly as an avid Lady Jacket supporter and loved to watch the Yellowjackets play basketball.

Wanda made friends easily. She had a welcoming and warm personality. Wanda was always there for anyone in need. Her legacy will live on in her family and friends.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Darb and Della Fults, her husband, W.D. McConnell Jr., her son, Roy Don McConnell and her brother, Jack Schuman.

Wanda is survived by host of relatives and friends, including her sons: Chuck McConnell and wife Vicki of Chance, Doug McConnell and wife Candelas of Salamanca, Spain, daughter: Donna Jean Covey and husband Victor of Westville, grandchildren: Mike McConnell of Prairie Grove, Ark., Steven Covey and wife Jennifer of Houston, Charlie McConnell of San Antonio, Chris McConnell and wife Carla of Ayase, Japan, Charlotte Yarbrough and husband Bill of Pensacola, Fla., Colton McConnell (who is deployed overseas on the USS. John C. Stennis), Becky Christy and husband Scott of Springdale, Ark., Willie McConnell of Jacket, Mo., David McConnell and Sandra McConnell of Salamanca, Spain and eight loving great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 1 pm on Friday, April 19, 2019 at Roberts & Hart Chapel, Westville, OK with Pastor Tim Estes officiating.

Interment followed at New Hope Cemetery, Chewey, OK.
