Clarence Jr. Hummingbird known to many as “Mack”, son of Dick and Flora (McKenzie) Hummingbird was born July 24, 1937 in Stilwell, Oklahoma and departed this life September 6, 2009 in Muskogee, Oklahoma at the age of 72 years, 1 month and 12 days.
Mack worked for Fred Jones Ford Paint and Body shop in Tulsa for many years. He was also a drummer in a band with his brother Ed. Although most of his life he was blind Mack was always happy and jolly and knew his destination was heaven. He would often say he could see his mom, dad, Ramon and Richard in Heaven. He said I am waiting on Jesus, Lottie and I often told him we were waiting also, but now Mack is not waiting anymore he has reached his destination.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Dick and Flora Hummingbird, 5 brothers; Roy, Wesley, Leonard, Ed Hummingbird and Richard Jones, 2 sisters; Nancy Mullany and Tarzanta Hummingbird.
Mack is survived by a very loving family that includes 6 sisters; Lottie Pritchett and Jewell Millsap of Stilwell, Ok, Joann Kinney and husband Earl, Louise Carr and husband Robert all of Park Hill, Ok, Lucille Cain and husband Larry of Tahlequah, Florine Brooks and husband Kenneth of Grand Lake. 1 Brother; Walter Hummingbird of Wagoner, Ok, several nieces, nephews other relatives and many friends also survive him.
Funeral services were held Thursday, September 10, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. in the Echota Church with Bro. Ellis Foster officiating. Interment followed in the Echota Cemetery under the direction of Roberts/Reed-Culver Funeral Home.
