Opal E. (Rich) Leatherwood passed from this life on Saturday, November 5, 2011 in Stilwell, Oklahoma at the age of 93. She was born on June 6th, 1918 in Mountainburg, AR to Lee Rich and Eva (Hall) Rich.
Opal was a long time resident of Stilwell and worked for many years at the Stilwell Canning Company. She was a very special mother and grandmother and enjoyed her role of being a homemaker and caring for her family. She was baptized on August 10, 1952 and at the time of her death she was a member of the First Baptist Church in Stilwell. She also loved quilting and doing outside work.
Opal was preceded in death by her parents; her husband: Arthur Lee Leatherwood; a son: Billy Ray Leatherwood; and a brother: Clifton Rich.
Survivors include two sons: Jerry Lee Leatherwood of Ajo, AZ and Rickey Gene Leatherwood of Proctor; two daughters: Barbara Gandy of Oklahoma City and Sharon Pettigrew of Stilwell; twelve grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and eight sisters.
Funeral services were held at 11 am on Wednesday, November 9, 2011 at Roberts/Reed-Culver Chapel with Bro. Roger Haney officiating. Interment followed at Ewing Chapel Cemetery.
