Betty Lou Duke was born September 14, 1929 in Atoka, Oklahoma to James Thomas Massey and Sophia (Moats) Massey.
She passed from this life to be with her Lord and Savior on October 9, 2007 at Stilwell Memorial Hospital at the age of 78 years and 25 days.
On July 25, 1946, Betty was married to Orville L. Duke and to this union was born five children, Karen, Don, Ron, Bill, and Joe.
As a homemaker, Betty was a loving mother and grandmother who enjoyed her family and spending time with her grandchildren, Jerad and Nicole Hess and Tiffany Duke. She loved sewing and was part of the Panhandlers Band at the Stilwell Senior Citizens Center. Betty was of the Pentecostal faith.
Her parents, James Thomas and Sophia Massey, husband, Orville, sister, Lydia Manuel and two brothers, Tommy and Jay Massey all preceded Betty in death.
Surviving family members include, one daughter, Karen Hess and husband Duane of Stilwell, four sons; Don Duke of Stilwell, Ron Duke of Albany, Oregon, Bill Duke of Stilwell and Joe Duke of Albany, Oregon, two brothers; Edward "Buck" Massey and wife Linda of Welling, Oklahoma and Gus Massey and wife, Barbara of Boonesville, Indiana, three sisters; Nell Tice of Stilwell, June Holt of Porum, Oklahoma and Marilyn Dossey of Lufkin, TX, 11 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, residents and staff of Stilwell Nursing Home, numerous family, friends and loved ones.
Services were held Friday, October 12, 2007 at Hart Memorial Chapel with Bro. Judge Fourkiller officiating.
Interment followed at Ewing Chapel Cemetery under the direction of Hart Funeral Home.
