Robert Allen "R.A." Coombes, 83, Sand Springs, Oklahoma, passed from this life Sunday, July 26, 2015. R.A. Was born in Stilwell, Oklahoma, on September 11, 1931 to Willard Coombes and Pearl (Benham) Coombes. Being one of 13 children, R.A. knew what it was to work hard for what he had. R.A. married his sweetheart, Katherine Vaughan, on December 21, 1951. She preceded him in death on June 20, 2015. They loved each other so much and now they are together forever.

R.A. Worked as a truck driver for Safeway for many years. He traveled all over the United States carrying grocery products. Some of the hobbies of R.A. included woodworking, camping and fishing, drinking coffee with his buddies, watching sports from both OU and OSU, and family time. To show his support, he always had a tag on the front of his truck that was half OU and half OSU. Of course we can�t forget Snow, his dog. Snow would bring R.A. His mail and paper. R.A. had a smile that is going to be missed by all his family and friends.

Preceding R.A. in death was his parents Willard and Pearl Coombes, wife Katherine, daughter Josie, son-in-law Carl, great-granddaughter Megan Paige Unger; brothers Monroe, Arthur, Amos, Cleburne, and Chester; sisters Viola Smallen, Grace Smallen, and Opal Hawkins.

R.A. Is survived by daughter Ellen Unger and husband Robert of Stilwell, Oklahoma; brother James Coombes of Stilwell, Oklahoma; sisters Verla Marsh and husband Jack of Colcord, Oklahoma, Elnora Cenac and husband Gorum of Oologah, Oklahoma, and Ruby Grant of Sallisaw, Oklahoma; grandchildren Travis Fanning of Sapulpa, Oklahoma, Rance Fanning and Janet of Sand Springs, Oklahoma, Tom Unger of Mannford, Oklahoma, Craig Unger and Rachel of Stilwell, Oklahoma and Greg Unger of El Reno, Oklahoma ; greatgreatchildren Dhamra and Skylar Fanning; best friend Snow, other relatives and a host of friends.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Mobley-Dobson Funeral Service of Sand Springs, Oklahoma. Funeral services for R.A.will be Thursday, July 30, 2015, 2:00pm, in the Mobley-Dodson Funeral Service Chapel. Interment for R.A. will be Friday, July 31, 2015, 10:00am, in the Ewing Chapel Cemetery, Stilwell, OK.
