On June 20, 2015 at 84 years, 2 months and 4 days, Katherine went home to
be with her Lord and Savior, who was very important in her life. Katherine
was born in Stilwell, Oklahoma on April 16, 1931, to John Vaughn and Edna
(Brock) Vaughn. She was married to her sweetheart R.A. Coombes in Stilwell,
Oklahoma on December 21, 1951. They were able to enjoy 63 and one-half
years of marriage.
Going to church, quilting, sewing, raising flowers, fishing and camping
occupied much of Katherine's time. She also loved to travel with he
r best
friend and husband R.A. Katherine was a loving wife, mother, grandmother
and great-grandmother. Family was very important to her. She will be
greatly missed by both her family and friends.
Preceding Katherine in death were her parents John and Edna Vaughn;
brothers E.D. Vaughn, Tommy Vaughn, and Willis Vaughn; sister Sarah
Huestis; daughter Josie Fannin; son-in-law Carl Fanning; and
greatgranddaughter Megan Paige Unger.
Katherine is survived by her husband R.A. of the home; daughters Ellen
Unger and husband Robert of Stilwell, Oklahoma, and Aleeta Metzger and
husband Dale of North Manchester, Indiana; son Dewayne Summerwell Chune of
California; sisters Elsie Smallen, Naomi Stephenson and Dora Coombes and
husband Ira, all of Stilwell, Oklahoma; brothers Wallace Vaughn and wife
Marilyn of Claremore, Oklahoma and Lebrone Vaughn and wife Marilyn of
Westville, Oklahoma; 7 grandsons; Travis Fanning of Sapulpa, Ok; Rance
Fanning and wife Janet of Sand Springs, Ok; Tom Unger of Mannford, Ok;
Craig Unger and wife Rachel of Stilwell, Ok; Greg Unger of El Reno, Ok;
Aaron and Chad Metzger of North Manchester, In; 2 greatgranddaughters; 1
greatgrandson; very special pet Snow; many other relatives and a host of
friends.
Funeral services for Katherine will be Wednesday, June 24, 2015, 10:00 am,
in the Mobley-Dodson Funeral Service Chapel. Interment will follow in the
Ewing Chapel Cemetery, Stilwell, Oklahoma. Arrangements have been entrusted
to the care of Mobley-Dodson Funeral Service of Sand Springs.
